Insomnia
Insomnia is actually a symptom that accompanies other sleep, psychiatric and medical disorders. Insomnia occurs when you persistently have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep. Often after insomnia, functional impairment occurs when awake. Usually the symptoms must continue for a month or more to be considered insomnia. In 2007, the United States Department of Health and Human Services revealed that about 64 million Americans suffer from insomnia yearly. Women are 1.4 times more likely to have insomnia than men.
Transient insomnia lasts for a period of days to weeks and resembles sleep deprivation. When sleep problems continue for three weeks to six months, it is considered acute insomnia. Chronic insomnia can last for years. There are many causes for insomnia.

The Dual Components of Human Life
It is common for people to have a tough time understanding what the ‘astral
self’ or spirit is all about. Is the astral self really you? Is it a
distinct entity? Is it the core of your existence in the physical plane?
This section will attempt to clarify some points between the duality of
human life:
- The spirit/astral self does not require food (physical nourishment) and
other earthly desires.
- Though the spirit has no physical desires, it knows that without the
physical body and the earthly self, it will have no anchor to the physical
plane. This is the reason why from time to time, the astral self agrees
with the physical desires of the earthly self.
- The earthly self is the part of you that constantly demands. The astral
self is the objective evaluator of these demands.
These two components of your ‘self’ ensure that there is balance in one’s
life and that physical desires do not hold sway completely.
Now, here’s the problem with the duality of human life as it relates to
conscious, astral travel: the earthly self is fully aware that the astral
self exists.
And the earthly self knows that without the astral self (the duality of
existence) the anchor to the physical realm (the mundane shell) will also
not survive.
Because of this fact, it is very difficult (at first) for the earthly self
to consciously let go of the astral self during guided astral travel.
The situation is similar to a parent trying to convince a young toddler
that he has to go to work for a few hours.
The toddler, feeling that he can’t make it through the day without the
parent, will do everything in his power to prevent the parent from leaving
for work.
Tantrums, screaming… You name it the toddler is capable of doing it. The
same applies to the earthly self during conscious projection.
The very thought of letting the astral self dissociate from the mundane
shell is terrifying for the earthly self, and the earthly self will do
everything in its power to prevent the dissociation from being carried out.
The earthly self is convinced that:
- The astral self should not dissociate from the mundane shell (the body)
and the earthly self.
- The astral self should be more concerned with responding to the material
and physical desires of the earthly self.
- If the dissociation is completed, the earthly self also believes that the
mundane shell will not survive (which is not the case).
Because the earthly self is fully convinced that the astral self should in
no way dissociate, the task is to convince the earthly self that astral
travel will actually benefit the earthly self.
You must strike a bargain with the earthly self and convince this part of
your duality that astral travel is not a threat to your existence on the

Collars and Harnesses for ferrets
So I saw you in the pet store the other day looking at collars and
harnesses. For your upcoming adoption of your ferret (or ferrets) I
presume? Good for you. And it’s really is a great idea.
Keeping either a collar or a harness on your pet ferret is an excellent
habit to get into. If they should “escape”, then the collar easily
identifies your ferret as a pet, not just some lost feral animal.
You don’t have to put a lot of “fashion” thought into buy a collar for your
new ferret though. No one ever accused the ferret collar as being a
fashion accessory. I really don’t care how they are marketed at the
stores. It is a necessity.
When you go searching for one for your ferret, ignore going for glamour.
Instead base your purchase on functionality with your little friend
foremost in mind.
You’ll want to buy a collar that is, before all else, lightweight,
preferably one made of nylon, soft leather or suede.
If the collar is too heavy your little friend will end up on a mission to
see if he can remove it from his neck. (And believe me, I’ve watched mine
on those missions. Those guys are determined!)
You will also want to get a small bell that attaches to the collar. In
this way, you’ll be able to tell where that little guy is during the day.

If you decide to buy a harness, you’ll soon discover that you can teach
your ferret to walk along right with you on a lead. If you do this, though,
make sure you buy the correct harness. Don’t try to make one from an old
dog lead.
Your ferret will slip out of that one so fast . . .
You’ll want to get a harness especially for a ferret. It will undoubtedly
be a full body harness, by the way. This is for their own good and
actually helps to ensure their safety. Don’t worry that anyone will think
you’re being mean. You’re not. You’re being a good parent by being
careful.
If you’ve never seen a ferret in one of these, you’re missing one of the
cutest sites ever. They look so cute in these! You may be the only one
excited by the harness, initially.
Don’t be discouraged by this. Give your ferret some time to get used to
the idea of a harness before you attempt to go for a walk with him. Don’t
hurry him. I guarantee you, he will get used to the idea of being walked
around a ring like a simple show pony.
But, remember to only use this when you’re walking him. Once you two are
inside, then take it off of him.
