Opening the Doors to the Astral Realm
Guidelines for a Safe and Successful Astral Voyage
Astral travel has its own set of safety guidelines, so you would be safe during the dissociation, the actual travel and the return to the corporeal body.
The following are some basic safety guidelines that you should always remember when practicing guided astral projection or astral travel. These guidelines will also help improve your success rate.
I. If the environment is too hot and humid, postpone the astral projection for a cooler, less humid day. The same applies if there has been a forecast of an impending electrical storm in your area.
Do not under any circumstance attempt any guided astral projection before or during an electrical storm.
Some advanced practitioners state that the projecting individual can remain safe by simply immersing a hand or a foot in water before the projection. But to be on the safe side, don’t try it.
II. To improve your chances of succeeding on your first attempts, it would be best if you chose a time when no disturbances will impede your progress in projecting. Small disturbances such as a child calling out to you or pets playing nearby are a big no-no when you are projecting for the first time.
Also, it would be a big help if you can project in a room that is farthest from the mundane noises of everyday life (e.g. honking of passing cars, chatter of neighbors, dogs barking, etc.) Dim lighting is preferred (avoid overly-bright rooms) and curtains should be closed to limit the entry of natural light.
Many practitioners prefer nighttime for their astral sojourns because chances of being distracted from the activity is minimal (this includes random phone calls).
By projecting at a time of the day when disturbances are least likely, you will also have all the time in the world to explore the astral realms or even the physical plane, if you choose to project yourself into the present time.
III. What you eat also has a bearing on your success rate. Whenever you are trying to attempt to project, you should not be starving but your stomach should not be so full to the point that your fullness affects your concentration.
Twenty-four hours before the first attempt, limit your meals to vegetables and other light foods. Avoid red meat and other heavy foods laden with proteins and fats. The lighter you feel, the better off you will be during the projection.
IV. It’s time to learn to relax your mind. Many people think that simply relaxing on a comfortable couch is enough to relax the mind.
This isn’t the case because many of us practice physical relaxation but continue to think of things like problems at work, troubles at home, dialogs we held with other people that day or in the past, etc.
All of these things take a toll on the mind. The body is at rest, but the mind is still being stressed.
If you want to succeed in dissociating your astral body from the mundane shell, it is imperative that you practice relaxation techniques like meditation to help calm your mind.
It would be best if you prepare for the first attempt, so you would be able to focus more easily on the task of dissociating during the actual projection.
V. The body and mind have to be at a state of ease during the astral projection – but you must not fall asleep! Your efforts will be wasted if you fall asleep right before the dissociation of your astral body.
A good way to relax your body but keep your alertness in check is by using a chair that can be reclined. You want your back and legs to be relaxed, but your head should be elevated so you can stay awake more easily.
VI. Always use some form of psychic protection when you are performing astral projection. Many practitioners use circles made with a mixture of salt and water. Some use ritual chants – the kind of psychic protection is really up to you.
Later on we will be explaining some of these psychic protection strategies to make your voyage much safer. The purpose of using such techniques is to fully protect your corporeal body when the astral body is away.
In 99.9% of all cases, these forms of psychic protection are not needed because people rarely venture out to the other realms of existence (apart from the astral realm and the physical plane).
But since we want everything to be completely safe and comfortable for everyone, we highly encourage the use of psychic protection during astral projection.
Psychic protection is also necessary to ward off entities (human or non-human in origin) from going near your body during astral travel.

Spinner Fishing
Spinner Fishing
Fishing for trout is a solitary hobby. Notice I didn’t say a lonely sport. It is anything but lonely. But it does seem to be a sport best done alone.
When you get two or more anglers together, trout just seem to know. And this seems especially true when you’re fishing with spinners.
But you don’t need to take my word for it. Jeff Deitrich, author of Spinner Fishing for Trout, makes the very same observation. He says, “Fishing next to your buddy usually isn’t a great idea. My father and I catch most of our fish apart.”
If you’re new to trout fishing, this term spinner or spin fishing may be a bit confusing for you. It certainly was for me when I was a novice angler. Spin fishing is really nothing more than an angling technique. In this method, something called a spinning lure is used to bait the trout.
It differs from fly fishing and bait cast fishing by the type of rod and reel you use. In fact, there are two different rods from which you can choose in spin fishing. One is the open-faced reel and the other the closed-face.
The spin fishing rod doesn’t have a trigger attached to the base of the rod — and this is what makes it different even from a bait casting fishing rod.
Techniques Of Spin Fishing
In spin fishing, it’s standard operating procedure — or at least conventional wisdom — that you should cast upstream. In contrast, you would then retrieve, naturally enough with the current. This is done because the spinner or the lure sinks faster.
One of the techniques most anglers use is called bottom bouncing. In this approach, the angler is standing on the shore as he casts up the river. He then allows the spinner or lure to actually bounce on the river bottom until it moves downstream. You hold the tip of the rod higher than you normally would. Your retrieval speed is quicker as well.
This technique is also popular when you’re fishing from an inflatable dingy. In this approach, you cast the spinner directly behind the boat, allowing it to settle on the bottom of the body of water. You’ll see anglers use this method when fishing for trout in larger, wider rivers. Great fishing ideas Click Here!
The Three Features of Compulsive Hoarding Behavior
If a person likes collecting a lot of things, does that behavior immediately qualify them as a hoarder? Not necessarily. You see, compulsive hoarding behavior has three features or distinct characteristics:
Feature 1: The person has an uncontrollable compulsion to collect material things – and it doesn’t have to be through shopping or purchases. It is common for hoarders to collect ‘treasures’ from roadsides and garbage bins (and of course, from other people).
Feature 2: Because of the compulsive collecting of material things (things of no practical or apparent value, usually) the living spaces in the person’s home gradually become so full of stuff that mobility is reduced and the person’s safety is compromised. The functions of living spaces are also greatly affected – sometimes to the point that a room becomes completely unusable.
Feature 3: The person who is exhibiting the collecting behavior becomes functionally impaired because of disorganization and may also suffer from other mental illnesses such as depression.
A person can only be diagnosed with compulsive hoarding behavior if all three aspects or features are present – and for good reason. The compulsion has to be so powerful that it actually causes visible problems in a person’s life.
Compulsive hoarders have a tendency to endlessly acquire as well as indefinitely save material possessions that may have already become useless at one point in time. It is common for hoarders to save things for years or decades.
To better understand the emotions that hoarders feel and just how powerful the compulsion to acquire and accumulate really is, here is a common hoarding scenario:
The Scenario
A woman in her fifties has sought professional help because of her hoarding behavior. Her children and her husband have already left her because she refused to let go of the piles of junk that have accumulated in their house for years.
She feels helpless and yet, she is unable to throw out the hoard inside her home.
The kitchen has a moderate amount of junk, but a large amount of food waste is present on the floor. The living room on the other hand, is brimming with boxes of ‘treasures’, and the only way she can still go through the living space is through a narrow ‘goat path’ that she has created for herself.
According to the fire department, her house is “not up to code” and she is given a deadline to clean up her home, or face the full force of the city’s council. She does not know what to do at this point, but the compulsion to collect things through uncontrollable shopping and through ‘roadside treasure hunting’ has not ceased.
What does it feel like to be her?
When she walks down a street, she usually avoids going near newsstands. She knows that if she even attempts to just glance at the headlines, she will have the compulsion to buy too many copies of magazines and newspapers. If she does, the new acquisitions will end up in some random box in the living room – again.
The attraction of the newsstand is so powerful and forceful that she looks at surrounding buildings and objects just to avoid seeing it.
In her mind, she is thinking that quite possibly, within the pages of those newspapers and magazines will be that one bit of information that will turn her life around for the better.
The woman also feels the same way when she sees people throwing away broken chairs, tables and trinkets on roadsides. She explores dumpsters and garbage bins regularly (at least once a week) to collect stuff. She feels that if something can be repaired or ‘isn’t all that bad’, then it is worth saving.
The professional organizer/therapist has arrived. They start off small, in the effort to sort through the accumulated mess in the woman’s home. Her first assignment was to pick a few things that she can simply throw away because the items had no practical use to her and were not needed.
When she attempts to throw away a small scrap of paper with some random notes, she felt that she could do it at first, but she immediately began sobbing when the scrap of paper fell into the garbage bin.
The reason? She felt that she was throwing away a part of herself. She was afraid that because she was discarding something from the hoard that she was losing the emotions and all the good things that she experienced on the day that she chose to acquire and save that particular scrap of paper.

Scrapbooking – Cropping Your Photos
Cropping is simply cutting away the distracting elements in your photos. There are several techniques to achieve this look. Listed below are some tips to do so. Some of your photos you may want to use can have distracting backgrounds. You will need to crop out the elements that take the attention away from your subject.
Some pictures may contain backgrounds of personal meaning. Look over your photos carefully before you crop them. Perhaps the photo contained a home where you grew up or a landmark from your childhood. You may want to leave these in your photo for your memories.
The quickest and easiest way to crop photo is to use a straight edge. You can accomplish this by using a ruler, pencil and scissors. After you are done tracing the line with your pencil, be sure to clear off any residue left behind. You do not want to harm your photos in any way. If your budget allows, you can purchase a small paper cutter. This technique is the safest crop to use.
If you use different shapes to crop photos, you may regret it later. Too many shapes can often make a page look busy and cluttered.
Another way to save time and money is to over lap your photos. This can also add different styles to your pages. To add a little creativeness to your scrapbook you can crop your pages with decorative sheers. Cropping your cardstock with the same sheers will give the photo a defined space on your page.
To add a different touch to your page you can get color copies made of your photos. Then crop the photos in a variety of sizes and styles. It does not have to be perfectly cropped; you can do this free hand with ordinary scissors.
If you have a photo and want to display several elements you can make copies of the photo and crop them different ways. This technique is good to use if there are several persons in the photo or to capture a landmark in the background.
To make a silhouette, crop close to your subject in your photo. Adding black or another dark color of cardstock will help with this design. You can use the dark color cardstock to accentuate a black and white photo. There are exceptions for cropping shapes, such as, a Valentine’s Day page. You can use a heart shaped cookie cutter as a template and place your photo on heart shaped cardstock. Other cookie cutters you could use are a Christmas tree, jack o lantern, and a flag. These are less expensive than purchasing die cuts for each holiday event you are displaying.
For the most precise photo cropping you could use templates. These come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Although templates are the durable and safe way to crop they can be quite expensive. If you insist on purchasing templates only get two basic shapes. I would recommend an oval shape and a square or rectangle shape. Avoid purchasing any other shape, no matter how cute you may think it is now. There are not too many photos you can use heart shaped templates on.
For bold and beautiful colored backgrounds, less cropping means more eye catching colors to use for cardstock. Save that breath taking photo of blooming flowers and work it into your page.
Use photo corners to display heritage photos. Putting adhesives on the back of these photos can damage them permanently. Use caution when working with these photos. Remember, the older the photo is the more fragile they have become.
Unfortunately you can not crop Polaroid’s, they contain a chemical that could leak onto your other photos and destroy them. You can display them in other ways, such as, attaching a pocket sleeve to the page and placing the photo in the sleeve. Placing photo corners on the four edges is another way to display them without endangering your other photos.
Remember, you should always have copies made in case you make a mistake and need to replace a photo. Not all photos have to be cropped, they may look just fine the way they are. Simple cropping designs work the best and provide you with a clean line design.

What Happens During Meditation?
Modern medicine does not say that meditation works. You won’t find a doctor that will prescribe meditation as the sole means of healing your illness in traditional medicine, anyway. Yet, meditation is something that doctor’s do tell you about in other ways.
For example, how many times has your doctor told you that stress was a problem in your health issue? Or, perhaps he told you of the need to relax more so that you can overcome your headaches, your pain, or your tension? In your doctor’s words, he is encouraging you to clear your mind of the things you worry about and concentrate instead on relaxing. That is what meditation can do for you.
Yet, the mechanics behind how meditation works is something completely different. Not many actually realize how meditation works or why it matters that they know why it works. You’ll learn both elements here.
In studies that have been done, there is evidence that meditation can produce a reaction in the body. It has been shown to provide a healthy state of relaxation. Physically, your body reacts in several ways.
- *Your breathing becomes regulated, smoother and deeper.
*Your heart rate decreases which means your heart is beating slower.
*It can help to decrease the amount of the stress hormone, called plasma cortisol that is produced by your body.
*It can decrease your pulse rate.
*It can increase a brain wave stimulation that causes you to relax. This is called your EEG or electroencephalograph alpha which is directly associated with the body’s ability to relax
*Probably the most astonishing physical experience to the body is the decrease in your metabolic rate, or the rate at which your body takes fuel and burns it for energy. This rate seemed to have dropped by some 20 percent in those that had otherwise normal metabolic rates.
Yet, not just physical changes happen during meditation. In addition, your body enters into a state of profound rest, rest that goes beyond that of any other stage of consciousness you could be in.
In meditation, you transform the way that your mind is working. While you can’t say that it’s a simple process, meditation is something that you can easily learn to do and then use daily. Click Here!
